This is an email we recieved yesterday that shows some of what we and others do in dealing with Dystonia.:
Rick & Michelle,
I first want to thank you again for allowing and trusting Tyler to spend the weekend with us. From the ride up to Jacksonville, Tyler and Delaney laughed and had a great time together. Our first game was against World of Baseball (WOB), coached by Clay Daniels. They are a very talented team. It was the top of the fifth inning and Tyler was playing right field with Tyler Ramey and WOB had the bases loaded. The batter hit the ball down left field line and the runners scored from 2nd and 3rd. The runner on first was a little slower runner so he made it to second and was rounding the base and saw that we were going to throw him out he made a quick turn around to get back to the base. We threw the ball to second, but it was a bad throw and the ball is now rolling to right field. Tyler Ramey was headed to back up behind second toward the infield and Tyler Staab held his position in right field.
Tyler Staab made the play and stopped the ball and more importantly the runner did not advance. I looked a Chris Willis and told him regardless of the outcome of the score of this game, that was a win for our team. I first heard Austin Langworthy yell "way to go Tyler" followed by Andrew McNeil and Kyle Mcgriff. Our team was pumped up. The next batter hit into an out and we were out of the inning. The score was WOB 12, Mustangs 4. Bottom of the fifth inning with bases loaded with 2 outs and Andrew McNeil gets up and hits a rope to right field. The right fielder charges the ball but miss playes it and the ball is now rolling to the fence. Andrew is rounding thrid and slides hard into home and the umpire calls him safe. Inside the park Grand Slam. Andrew jumps up with excitement and the team feels they can truly win this game. The next batter flies out and the score is now WOB 12, Mustangs 8. Andrew is the pitcher and goes out and faces the next 3 batters and 3 outs are recorded. This is our last inning and the Mustangs are excited for a come from behind win. The WOB brings in a hard throwing lefty to shut us down. We are now leading off with Philip WIllis who gets to first, Alan Wagner hits to Shortstop who throws to 2nd to start a double play but a hard slide from Philip takes out the 2nd basemen and Alan is safe at first. The next two batters get on base so we now have bases loaded. The next batter is walked on 4 straight balls and we walk in a run, we are now 3 runs from tying and 4 from winning. Bases are still loaded and Langworthy is up to bat. He hits a bomb to the gap in left center field and clears the bases. The score is now tied and Langworthy is on second. The pitcher is called for a baulk and now the winning run is on 3rd. The dugout is going crazy. Kyle Brasfield is walked with 5 pitches. Brasfield gets a huge lead at first and the pitcher tries to pick him off, but first basemen misses the throw and Langworthy crosses the plate with the winning run. The greatest comeback win in the history of Mustang Baseball. Now you see how important that stop was that Tyler made. They would have easily scored if he had not stopped that ball. We went on to win all 5 of our games and the Championship. One of the coaches from another team was talking to me on Sunday between our games, he told me that he could not believe the difference in our team from last year. He asked me what was the change. Without hesitation I said Tyler Staab. Tyler has taught the coaches and his teammates that regardless of the circumstance we are facing anything is possible for this team to accomplish. They play like a team, the dugout is fun and relaxed (most of the time) They believe in each other. Seeing your son play right field with Tyler Ramey is a picture of truest form of friendship. Tyler continues to bless me every time we are together. Thank you for allowing us the honor and privilege of coaching and having Tyler a part of the Mustangs. We are so excited to see this team in Cooperstown. Have a blessed day.
