Back to school today for Tyler, Samantha, and Luke after a week of sping break. We had a great time all week at the beach with the kids. There were some real challenges with Samantha and getting to the beach. We brought the Jeep out on the beach eventually and that solved our problem. The kids saw lots of friends and were able to play with them when they got tired of Michelle and I. Luke learned how to play lacrosse and is pretty good at it. He catches some of the balls and can handle the stick pretty well and throw the ball really well.
Luke has been worrying me lately. It is getting closer to the age where symptoms would show up if he was to get dystonia. It is probably a little early because Samantha and Tyler didn't show symptoms until they were seven years old. It scares the crap out of me and Michelle. I really hope he doesn't get it. He spilled some things this past week and of course my first thought isthat he is having troubles but it was more than likely that he was tired from swimming and playing. Yesterday Luke was checked out and his eye is doing better. The stitches will eventually go away but it is healing well.
Samantha has not seen any benefit yet from the DBS surgery and that is starting to worry me as well. Her spirits are good and she was swimming every day even though the water was very cold. She puts pressure on her foot when in the pool so she scraped the skin off of the outside of her foot. She starts school today and is already talking about er report card probably because she does soo well.
Tyler did everything he could over spring break and has become a surf head. He wants to change his room to surf/beach style. He had a few friends he ran around with at the beach and showed some independence. He continues to be a good kid and not get into the trouble that most kids get into at his age. It could be that he knows he cannot run away and hide like most of them. His surgery for his battery replacement is coming up on the 23rd. Tyler has his second meeting today for the National Junior Honor Society.
I need to go take "Spiderman" to school and Michelle is taking the other two.
This weekend is the annual Tyler's Hope motorcycle event and the Summit/Think Tank is coming up in May.
I am very confident that we will find some great breakthroughs in the fight against Dystonia soon.
